Kai-Olaf Hesse > Kai-Olaf Hesse *1966 has lived as an independent photographer and book designer in Braunschweig since 2006. Photography Studies at the University Essen; Degree from HGB Leipzig (University of Grafics and Bookart). Several years of stays abroad; collaborative work at Bauhaus Dessau. Activities in Berlin from 1998 through 2006. Exhibitions and publications nationally and internationally. Various teaching positions. Employing artistic-documentary image languages, the works of Kai-Olaf Hesse can be mainly located in the field of 'social-historical landscape photography'. City- and topography-oriented projects pose questions provoked by historical and cultural facts at the intersection of present locations and social sensitivities as well as their images. These conceptual approaches are presented by means of referential metaphors in photographic image concepts - often together with texts and historical image material - and realized in form of books and exhibitions. http://www.berlinphotoworkshops.de/faculty/kai_dt.html |
