Elmar Haardt >

After receiving his university degree in European Ethnology, Philosophy and Sociology, Elmar Haardt (born in 1974) went to study at the Berlin-based photography school Fotografie am Schiffbauerdamm. Since 2006 he has worked on free photography projects with a focus on the human being in his or her special life surroundings, the 'being left' in a self-created environment. Recently his series Nord (2006/2007) was shown in the exhibition Angesichts der Lage (In View of the Situation) at Zeche Zollverein in Essen. Elmar Haardt lives in Berlin and Switzerland. At present he works on his new project with the working title Topografien der Durchfahrt (Topographies of Transition). Central to this project are the villages that are located next to the Swiss Gotthard Highway, a busy transit route that seems to turn anything in its vicinity into oblivion.
